So I know that I have been very bad at writing on my blog. The summer has been crazy, so here is a post about how our summer went. We ended school in April. We both did very well in school and had a great time. Our friends Justin and Mitzi Furnell's moved to Missouri. Sad for us but happy for them. They lived right next door to us and we always had a monthly date night with them. Since they left Casey and I just had date night alone. Don't get me wrong, it is nice to have a date night alone with Casey but sometimes I like going on dates with someone else. We do go on dates with others too, like have them over for dinner and games, so we aren't anti-social.
April/ May: (I think it might have been sooner) My brother, Alex came to Utah to start school again after his mission. It has been great being able to hang out with him. Since we didn't have school we worked most of the time. But when we didn't work just chilled. It was nice not having to do homework or worry about school and projects. Here are some things that we did in May/ the end of April.
June: This month was the month of our one year mark. At the beginning of the month, I started my summer semester at LDSBC. I wanted to get some classes done so I wouldn't have to worry about them in the Fall when I had more classes. I only took 3 classes. It was very nice. I just had Studio 2, Rendering, and Pearl of Great Price. Since it was summer the classes were more packed with work, but I still got through it. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be until later on in the summer.
June 12 is our anniversary date. We celebrated it with great fun! You can read about that here. I can't believe that Casey and I have been married for a year and a little and known each other for about 2 years now. It is crazy! At the end of June was the Theobald family reunion. Casey and I had a couple days off before we had to leave for the family reunion so we decided that we wouldn't get each other any gifts for our year anniversary so we can spend that money to go to San Diego for a couple days before the family reunion. In San Diego, we spent some time with Casey's parents and family that is down there. It was mormon night at the Padres, so we went. That was my first Padres game and Casey was thrilled that we got to see them play even though they lost. It was still fun. We both like watching baseball and playing it isn't to bad either. We then left for the family reunion on sunday.
Family reunions are always filled with fun and laugher. That is exactly how the Theobald's do it, a vacation filled with fun! The reunion was located in Las Vegas, NV. We stayed at a resort that my parents are members to. It was great being with all the family except for Shawn's family. The moved to the east coast in april (guessed on the april) because Shawn is starting medical graduate school. We sure do miss their family. The Theobald family reunions are always filled with activities and things to do. The first day we got there we just relaxed and spent time with one another. My dad and mom made a video of family home videos and oh goodness that was embarrassing as well hilarious. They found some videos of things I don't even remember video taping! It was fun watching them with the family and hearing all the comments from one another and my dad. It was pretty funny (I am sure I said that already but I just had to say it once more). Monday we went to the children museum in Las Vegas. It was fun playing with my nieces and nephews and seeing them laugh and just explore. I think Casey is a big kid sometimes because it seemed like it was having as much or more fun as they were. We were all having a fun time. It was great. Tuesday, we went to Hoover Dam. My family cracked every dam joke you coud. It was hilarious. It was great going there. Casey and I never had been so it was fun for us to do something we haven't done before. We had a great time spending time at the pool and around the resort with my family.
July: To start off July, we celebrated the fourth with my friend from high school, Mackenzie and her husband and Alex. We had a little inside BBQ at our apartment in salt lake then went to sugarhouse for the firework show there. It was fun spending time with all of them and getting to see Mackenzie and getting to know her husband better. It was a couple weeks later that we found out that I was pregnant. Casey and I have been hoping for this day to come. We decided that it was time for us to start trying to have a baby in March. July was the month. I took a at home pregnancy test and it was positive. At first I didn't believe it so we got another one and I took that one as well and it was positive. So we were expecting. We didn't want to tell anyone except for my parents until we went to the doctors. We set up our first appointment with the doctor for August 8th, the week after the Schroeder family reunion. A week before the family reunion I started to feel really sick and was experiencing morning sickness. It got to the point where I couldn't keep anything down not even water. So I called the doctor and asked what I could do because I didn't want to feel horrible the whole time while at Yellowstone with the Schroeder's. They gave me a prescription for Zofran and told me that I still should try and eat what I can just a little every couple hours. And that is what I did. Casey and I then decided that we should tell his family that we were expecting while at the family reunion. So we were thinking of ways to tell them. His family got here in late July. They picked us up and we were off to Yellowstone for a week.
August: The first week of August we were in yellowstone spending time with Casey's family. It was great to spend time with them. When we first got to Yellowstone we took a family picture. Casey and I decided that it would be fun to announce to the family that we were expecting then. So on the last picture instead of saying "say cheese" we said "say Joy's pregnant!" and everyone was surprised, except for his parents. But they were all happy for us. It was fun being able to tell some of the family in person. We then drove to the Canyon campsites where we were camping for a week. Casey and I went to Yellowstone in August last year as well so we might have to make this a tradition since we have done it 2 years in a row. We will see. It was great being in Yellowstone. Casey's dad grew up their in the summer's because his parents worked their in the summer. So hearing all the stories of what he and his brothers and sister did was so fun and also hearing all of the information that he knew about the park. Last year I told Casey that I really wanted to see a moose but we didn't get the chance to see one last year or this year. It was a bummer but we still had tons of fun and saw lots of other animals. You could never really predict the weather in Yellowstone but the weather wasn't to bad. It did rain for the most part of the time while we were there. Since we were staying in the middle of the park we got to see all of the main attractions. It was great driving around and walking around the beauty of Yellowstone. Being outside helped me feel a little better as well. I still felt sick but it wasn't to bad, thanks to the medicine. Yellowstone was a blast with the Schroeder family. We had great fun!
When we got home from Yellowstone we had our doctor's appointment. I started to not feel good on the way home so I took it easy for the next couple days. Morning sickness just got worse over the month and I felt that all I did was sit in the bathroom and hoover over the toilet (TMI). The doctor appointment went well though. We got to have our first ultrasound and saw the baby. It wasn't to big and it looked like a pea pod kinda. But it was very healthy, which helped me because I was starting to get nervous that it wasn't because I wasn't getting much food down. We got to meet our doctor which seems to be so nice and I am very excited to have her as my doctor. After the appointment we told the whole family. Called all of our siblings and family members and told them that we were expecting and I was due March 13th. We then told the world (aka. blogger and facebook).
My morning sickness just kept on getting worse and worse over the weeks. I started to loose weight. I called the doctor again and asked what else I could do. I was still on the medication. They said that I need to go to the infusion center to get liquid in my system because I was getting dehydrated which wasn't helping me keep anything down.
September: I started to feel better but still wasn't completely fine. I turned 20 years old on September 4th. We just relaxed and spent the day together. Alex and one of his friends came up for dinner. I still wasn't able to eat much so we had a very low key dinner that consisted of rice, tufo jello, and bread. Yes a morning sickness dinner. It was still a great birthday! We then moved to our new apartment that next week. We now live at Seasons at City Creek. They are brand new apartments right by our school. The week after we moved in we started school.
This months doctor appointment was a low key appointment. We just checked that I was doing good and that the baby was healthy. We heard the heartbeat for the first time. It was a great appointment. The doctor said that the baby is healthy and that I should start trying to gain weight because I lost about 13 pounds.
I now have gained 5 pounds and is feeling much better. I am keep down food if I eat slowly and also a little at a time. I am starting to show a little but it looks more like I am blowed then anything. Casey and I are still in school. We are excited for the next month because a lot is going to be happening. We start it off with conference which is always amazing. On monday, we go to the doctor again and this is 'the big' appointment where we have a ultrasound to find out if baby Schroeder is a boy or a girl. We are both very excited. Then at the end of the month we are going to be flying to California to visit my mom, a much needed trip. We haven't seen her since the family reunion, so I can't wait. I have called her almost very day. My mom and I are very close so I am way excited to go visit her and have her see me as a pregnant women. :)
Well that's an update. Hope you enjoyed.
