Supremem Pizza Fondue

So I decided that I wanted to pick out a couple recipes and try them out this week. That is exactly what I did. On sunday I wanted to do something that I could just put into the crock pot and have it be done by the time we came home from church. I didn't want to do a roast but I wanted something that would keep me warm. Soup! I was thinking of Taco Soup until Casey found this recipe. It was amazing! It isn't exactly soup but it could be. So I made it. Supreme Pizza Fondue. It was delicious. It was spicy but sweet and it really did last like pizza. We dipped a baguette into it. We put some parmasen and some mozzarella cheese on the top to make it taste more like a pizza.YUMMY!

It also makes great leftovers. We used it for sauce over our pasta last night for dinner. It was delicious!

Here is the recipe:
(There is two ways to cook this. I did the slow cooker way)

Supreme Pizza Fondue
Makes 5 1/2 Cups

4 oz bulk Italian sauage
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 26-oz har spaghetti sauce (use a meatless sauce)
1 cup of fresh mushrooms
2/3 cup chopped pepperoni or canadian-style bacon
1 teaspoon dried basil or oregano, crushed
1/2 cup chipped pitted ripe olives (optional)
1/4 cup finely chipped green sweet pepper (optional)

Things to dip with:
Cooked tortellini, Italian flatbread or Italian bread cubes, or mozzarella and/or provolone cheese cubes.

1. In a large skillet cook the sausage, onion, and garlic until meat is brown. Drain off fat.

2. Add spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, pepperoni, and basel. Hear to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, cover, for 10 minutes. If desired, stir in ripe olives and sweet pepper. If using sweet pepper, cover and cook 5 minutes more or until sweet pepper is tender.

Slow Cooker directions:
Prepare as above through Step 1. In a 3 1/2 or 4-quart slow cooker combine spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, pepperoni, and basil. Stir in the sausage mixture. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 3 hours. If desired, stir in ripe olives and sweet pepper. Cover; cook on low-heat setting for 15 minutes more.
